TYPECUB
Privacy policy
Last updated:
TypeCub helps you improve your typing through practice, progress reports, and optional AI exercises. This policy explains how we handle information when you use www.typecub.com.
For privacy questions or requests, contact @EvanChenyo on X.
1. Account information and Google sign-in
When you create an account, we process your email address, display name, account identifier, and authentication information. Supabase provides authentication and stores account and session records. If you use email and password, your password is handled by Supabase Authentication.
If you choose Google sign-in, Google provides basic identity information, including your name, email address, Google account identifier, and profile picture when available. Supabase may store this information and the authentication tokens needed for sign-in. TypeCub uses your name and email to identify your account and display your profile. We do not receive your Google password or request access to Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, or calendars.
We use Google account information for authentication, account management, and support. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or send Google profile information to our AI provider for generating typing exercises.
2. Typing practice and preferences
TypeCub processes keystrokes and timing in your browser to calculate typing speed, accuracy, errors, and patterns that may need practice. Saved results include the exercise text, date, duration, performance statistics, and positions of errors or slower characters used in text reviews. The app does not save a raw keystroke event log with each result.
Without an account, practice history is stored on your device. When you are signed in, completed sessions and AI workouts are saved to your account in Supabase. Theme, accent color, sound, animation preferences, and saved lesson choices are stored locally in your browser.
When you start a custom practice, the pasted text for your current and remaining sections is kept in this browser so you can resume after a reload. Completed sections, including their text, follow the same local or account history storage described above. Custom practice does not send your pasted text to an AI provider.
3. Optional AI features
When you request an AI exercise, workout, or available feedback feature, we send OpenAI the information needed to generate it. This includes your selected content category, any topic you enter, and relevant typing statistics such as speed, accuracy, and difficult keys or patterns. Feedback requests may also include a practice-session identifier and date. These requests do not include your account email, Google profile, or payment card information.
Avoid entering confidential or sensitive personal information in a topic. Generated workout plans and completed results may be stored in your account. Classic practice does not require an AI request. OpenAI processes requests under its applicable service and data-handling policies.
4. Payments and subscriptions
Stripe processes payments and manages billing through its hosted Checkout and customer portal. We send Stripe your account email and an account identifier to connect a subscription to you. TypeCub stores billing references, plan, subscription status, and renewal or expiry dates. Payment card details are entered directly with Stripe; TypeCub does not store full card numbers or card security codes.
5. Website analytics, cookies, and technical information
Vercel hosts the website and provides Web Analytics. Analytics records page visits and technical information such as browser, device type, referrer, and approximate location to help us understand usage. When enabled, app events such as starting or completing practice also help us understand which features are used. We do not deliberately include typed passages, topic text, names, or email addresses in these analytics events.
Authentication uses cookies to keep you signed in, and browser storage remembers your preferences and local history. Vercel Web Analytics does not use third-party cookies. Hosting and service providers may process IP addresses, request details, and diagnostic logs to deliver the service, investigate errors, and prevent abuse.
6. How we use and share information
We use information to operate TypeCub, save your progress, personalize practice, manage subscriptions, respond to support requests, and keep the service reliable and secure. We share information with the providers described above as needed for these functions. Those providers may process information outside your country under their applicable terms and privacy protections.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information where required by law or necessary to address fraud, security incidents, or threats to users or the service. Access to private account information is limited to supporting and operating the service.
7. Retention and security
We retain account information, practice results, and workouts to provide your account and history. Local data remains in your browser until you clear it or the browser removes it. You can request deletion of account data by contacting us. Some billing, security, or support records may need to be retained to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes, and backup copies may remain until they expire under provider retention processes.
We use authenticated access, database access controls, and encrypted connections to help protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
8. Your choices and privacy requests
You can use classic practice without an account, edit your display name in Account, and clear local preferences or history through your browser’s site-data settings. Clearing browser data does not delete cloud account records. You can also revoke Google access in your Google Account settings; revoking access does not automatically delete your TypeCub account.
To request access to, correction of, a copy of, or deletion of your personal information, use the contact above. We may need to verify that the account belongs to you before acting. Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights, including the right to object to certain processing or contact a data protection authority. Manage an active subscription through Account’s billing portal; a deletion request is separate from cancelling billing.
9. Updates
We may update this policy as TypeCub changes. The date above identifies the latest version. Questions about this policy, including concerns about a child’s information, use the same contact.
