Question 1

Is TypeCub free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Unlimited classic typing practice, every lesson, and your speed and accuracy statistics are free and always will be. Pro adds AI-generated passages, personalized daily workouts, and an on-demand typing coach.

Question 2

Do I need an account to practice?

Accepted Answer

No. You can start typing immediately without signing up. An account saves your history across devices and unlocks your progress dashboard and one free AI daily workout.

Question 3

How is words per minute calculated?

Accepted Answer

TypeCub uses the standard measure: total characters typed divided by five, divided by the minutes you spent typing. Counting five characters as one word keeps scores comparable across short and long words.

Question 4

What is a good typing speed?

Accepted Answer

Around 40 words per minute is typical for someone comfortable with a keyboard, 60 to 80 is a strong working pace, and above 100 is fast. Accuracy matters more than raw speed, since corrections cost more time than careful keystrokes.

Question 5

Can I practice typing code?

Accepted Answer

Yes. TypeCub includes code lessons with the brackets, punctuation, and symbols that ordinary prose practice never trains.
